Cumberland Park
The Cabra Dominican Sisters are a religious order devoted to education, ecology and justice, with a history dating back to the 13th century. In 2023, Sister Maureen O’Connell contacted Spirit of Woman expressing her order’s desire to establish a place for healing in their Peace Gardens, located on Cross Rd in Cumberland Park, and always open to the public.
An emotive statue of a grieving woman was given to the order as a gift in 2003, in honour of Margaret Cain, a Dominican Sister who had recently passed away. The statue will be placed on a natural stone plinth in this contemplative space, and accompanied by a plaque from Spirit of Woman commemorating its inclusion in the Ripples Across SA initiative.
