‘HOST A BAKE’ is a heartfelt CALL TO ACTION inviting
individuals, workplaces, schools, and communities to
HOST A BAKE and amplify our voices of courage
against family and domestic violence.
60 women were lost to violence in 2025. Already in 2026, 13 women and 5 children have died.
This must change!
- Helen Oxenham, OAM, founder, Spirit of Woman and the women of Christies Beach baked to pay rent for South Australia’s first women’s refuge.
- Suffragettes held bake sales to show home roles didn’t limit political activism.
- During the Civil Rights Movement, Georgia Gilmore and Black women sold pies to support the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
- Bake sales in the 1970s helped fund the American Equal Rights Amendment.
Baking is Tradition for Transformation:
We invite you to continue the tradition
- Because conversations change culture
- Because communities create safety.
- Because your baked treats can raise critical funds for healing, prevention, and justice.
