‘HOST A BAKE’ is a heartfelt CALL TO ACTION inviting
individuals, workplaces, schools, and communities to
HOST A BAKE and amplify our voices of courage
against family and domestic violence.

60 women lost their lives to violence in 2025.
In 2026, 26 women and 10 children have already been lost.

Yet, there is no permanent place to honour them.

Help us build The Place of Courage — a permanent public memorial honouring lives lost to domestic and family violence.

WHY HOST A BAKE SALE?

- Helen Oxenham, OAM, founder, Spirit of Woman and the women of Christies Beach baked to pay rent for South Australia’s first women’s refuge.

- Suffragettes held bake sales to show home roles didn’t limit political activism.

- During the Civil Rights Movement, Georgia Gilmore and Black women sold pies to support the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

- Bake sales in the 1970s helped fund the American Equal Rights Amendment.

Baking is Tradition for Transformation:

We invite you to continue the tradition

- Because conversations change culture

- Because communities create safety.

- Because your baked treats can raise critical funds for healing, prevention, and justice.
