During the 16 Days of Activism, 2024, Christies Beach High School engaged students using the question, “What does a loving community look like?”
The school reflected:
“Domestic and family violence is such a sensitive topic but also common in many communities. We truly appreciate having Spirit of Woman provide age-appropriate information and interaction with students, and we look forward to continuing the partnership.”
It became a platform for self-expression, showing how Art Breaks The Silence Within.
Why get involved?
· Deepen student understanding of respect & social justice
· Connect with a statewide movement for change
· Share youth voices through public exhibitions & digital platforms
Registered schools receive a starter pack of themes, templates, and classroom resources. Together, we can create ripples of courage, empathy, and change across South Australia.
A living classroom for respect, healing & change
During the 16 Days of Activism (25 Nov – 10 Dec), we warmly invite schools to join us in creating Ripple-inspired artworks that explore empathy, courage, healing, and respect.
Students’ creative voices will be celebrated through displays at Ripple sites, on our website and social media channels, and in partnership with councils, galleries, and community organisations..
Ripples are public memorials that honour lives impacted by family and domestic violence. Like circles in water, each Ripple begins with remembrance and flows toward resilience, spreading awareness, dialogue, and change.
Ripple sites provide:
· Safe spaces for healing and reflection
· Educational hubs for learning about respect and healthy relationships
· Community spaces for vigils, events, and cultural connection
